Current public-ferry fare: US$30 one way for adults 12+ and US$15 for children 2–11; under 2 is treated as free in the planner. Payment flow: at Blowing Point the ferry fare is paid at the booking desk; when departing Marigot the ferry fare is paid in cash onboard. Marigot also charges a €7 passenger fee for ages 4+, paid at the ticket office by card or in euros. No online booking is currently offered for the public ferry.

A quick hop to Marigot

Make the crossing part of the day.

A public-ferry day trip between Anguilla and Marigot is one of the easiest island hops in the area. The crossing is about 20 minutes, and the Marigot Ferry Terminal is directly in the centre of town on the market square, close to shops, restaurants and the waterfront.

Start early rather than squeezing the trip into the afternoon. A late departure gives you less useful time and makes you more dependent on the final ferry. The planner deliberately tries to leave one later sailing as your backup.

How the Marigot ferry system really works.

Many visitors arriving through St. Maarten think it’s risky or inconvenient to rely on the public ferry from Marigot to Anguilla. That idea can sometimes end up costing you quite a bit, especially if you’re travelling as a couple, family, or larger group.

The Marigot–Blowing Point ferry runs on a set daily schedule, except when weather or port conditions force the ports to close. The 10 boats that participate in the schedule are privately owned Anguillian passenger vessels operating together under a Government-set schedule, rather than as a single ferry company.

This is an important distinction. The service doesn’t depend on just one boat. If a vessel fills up before departure and some passengers are left behind, another boat is dispatched to take them, as long as there isn’t another scheduled ferry already due to run. In simple terms, if you arrive at the Marigot terminal in time for a scheduled sailing while the ports are open, the system is designed to get you to Anguilla.

The Anguilla–St. Maarten ferry industry also has an excellent safety record. Both scheduled and charter services have maintained a 100% passenger safety record in the Anguilla Channel throughout the industry’s history. The vessels are built and maintained to strict maritime standards and go through thorough inspections and testing as part of their annual licensing and renewal process.

For many travellers, especially couples and families, taking a taxi from Princess Juliana International Airport to Marigot and then catching the scheduled ferry to Blowing Point can be a safe and much more affordable option than booking a direct airport boat transfer.

That said, the direct airport transfer has one major advantage: convenience and peace of mind before you even land. Your transfer is booked in advance, you are met at the airport, your ride to the boat is arranged, and the journey is coordinated for you.

Neither option is automatically better. The right choice depends on your flight arrival time, number of passengers, luggage, budget, and how much you value having everything pre-arranged.

SXM → Marigot taxi

Short cross-island connection.

The official Saint-Martin taxi tariff places SXM Airport to Marigot at €25 for 1–2 passengers, €10 per passenger for groups of 3–5, and €9 per passenger for groups of 6+. The drive is commonly under 20 minutes, although traffic and airport processing time vary.

Why direct transfer costs more

You are buying coordination.

The premium is not only the boat ride. A direct airport transfer can include an advance reservation, airport meet-and-greet, ground transfer to the dock and a coordinated departure. The public ferry is often cheaper but is purchased on site.
